Cookie Policy

1The short version

This site uses a small number of technologies that store information in your browser. The ones needed to sign you in and keep the site working are always on. Analytics and marketing are optional and stay off until you turn them on. Nothing optional runs before you choose.

Change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page.

2Cookies and local storage

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Local storage does something similar but keeps the data on your device without sending it with every request. We use both, and we describe both here, because the distinction matters less to you than what the data is used for.

3Essential (always on)

These keep the site functioning and secure. They cannot be turned off, because without them you could not sign in or stay signed in, and we could not remember that you already answered the cookie banner.

4Analytics (optional, off by default)

If you allow analytics, we load Google Analytics for Firebase. It tells us which pages and services people look at, how they arrived, roughly where in the world they are, and what device they used. We use it to decide what to put on the site and what to fix. We do not use it to identify you personally.

The analytics library is not downloaded and no analytics identifier is created until you turn this category on. If you turn it back off, we stop analytics collection for this browser.

5Marketing (optional, off by default)

This category covers advertising and conversion measurement technologies, for example a social platform or search advertising pixel that would tell us which ad brought you here.

6Changing or withdrawing your choice

• Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page to reopen the preferences panel and change any optional category.
• Closing the banner without choosing, or selecting Essential only, leaves every optional category off.
• Your choice is stored on the device and browser you are using. If you use a different browser or device, or clear your browsing data, you will be asked again.
• Clearing your browser data will also sign you out.

7Controls in your browser

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, independently of anything on this site. Blocking essential cookies and local storage will prevent you from signing in and will make your account features stop working. Instructions live in the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.

8Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

We honor universal opt out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control, sent by your browser or an extension. When we detect one, we treat it as an instruction to leave the optional categories off for that browser and to opt you out of targeted advertising and any sale of personal data.

The older Do Not Track header was never given an agreed meaning across the industry and most browsers have retired it. We do not rely on it. Use the Cookie settings link or a Global Privacy Control signal instead.

9Third parties

Google provides the hosting, authentication, and optional analytics behind this site, and processes data for us under the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms. Pages that embed content from another service, such as a video, may allow that service to set its own cookies once the content loads. Those services publish their own cookie and privacy policies.

10Changes to this policy

If we add, remove, or change a cookie or a category, we update the tables above and the date at the top of this page. A material change resets the stored consent version, which means the banner will ask you again rather than assuming your old answer still applies.
